Great cooler but too tall

I installed it on a p8400 on a GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P motherboard in a Coolermaster Wavemaster case. It does a great job of cooling the CPU, I’ve overclocked the P8400 to 3.8GHz, with sys_basher putting a maximum load on both cores, the core temps are 37C.
The one problem with this cooler is the height, it’s 3/4" too tall for the Coolermaster case. With the cooler installed it’s impossible to put the side panel on the case.

About Thermal Right Ultra

Buen producto.
The best of all

The Thermalright Ultra 120 extreme is simply the best air cooler, I compared with some other coolers like the Thermaltake Big Typhoon and the Asus Silent Knight (note tha both are 100% cooper), the CoolerMaster Aquagate S1 and none of them are as effective as the Thermaltake. How ever it’s not perfect, there are some details like the size and the weight(actually you must understand it is necessarily), it comes without a fan (i recommend you a 120 mm Scythe Sflex), and the retention brackets isn’t quite good (it doesn’t move from its place, however you can turn it a little). If you are looking for the best air cooler, this is it!

The BEST CPU cooling for your gaming PC
12 Jul 2007 @ amazon.com
I bought this CPU cooler for my budding gaming PC in May 2007 and it definitely does the job, even in tropical environments where the temps in my house during the day can easily top 30C (86F). I currently have an Athlon 64 X2 4200+ (2.2GHz)I get 40C at stock speeds it doesn’t cross 44C with a stable overclock to 2.65GHz while doing ’typical’ stuff like internet and documents. Obviously the temperatures will be a lot better in an air-conditioned environment, but I am very happy.
Bes sure to use a wide gaming case. In my Thermaltake Armor Jr. case I only have about 2-3 cm clearance between the top of the HSF and the side panel. also get a nice high rpm 120mm fan as it is necessary (heat sink does not come with any fan; I am using a Thermaltake SmartFan with manual fan speed control).
Use this on your AM2 or Core 2 Duo system. You won’t regret it!
