We’ve reviewed a number of products from ThermalRight before in the distant past. I’ve always liked their cooling products, and they are arguably one of the most respected mainstream cooler manufacturers in the world, so it’s about time we reviewed another. We’ve just gotten one in and we really want to see what this new beast can do. Prepare for the ThermalRight Ultra 120.

The ThermalRight Ultra 120 is a massive cooler of impressive design. This thing is so big it barely fits in our case, a Thermaltake Eureka tower server case of not inconsiderable size. The Ultra-120 is also easily one of the best looking coolers around. With its sleek curved design, it looks more like some modern high rise tower than it does a cooler. In fact, its shape and design concept looks strikingly similar to another cooler we reviewed some time ago. In case you missed it, the Noctua NH-U12 is near identical in form, though not as beautifully crafted. The Noctua is also one of the best performing air coolers we’ve ever tested. I would wonder if the Ultra-120 would perform in similar fashion as well. I guess there is really only one way to find out. I’ve collected a sampling of coolers and will be looking for the best of the bunch. And for added measure, I’ve even broken out Corsair’s Noctua water cooling kit, an inexpensive beginner’s water cooling kit, just to see how the ThermalRight Ultra 120 stands up to good old basic H2O.
