Gigabyte Factory Tour
[H]ardOCP:
PCStats takes you on a tour of Gigabytes factory in Taiwan and shows you how motherboards are made. It is funny how little has changed in the last decade. Looking back to 1999, 2001, 2002 and 2006 it is easy to see that even though the components and chipsets may change, the process is still the pretty much the same.
It’s surprising to learn the amount of work and machinery involved in manufacturing a single motherboard. We’d vaguely imagined some sort of stamping process where all components are slapped onto the bare board in one step and soldered, before being boxed in a big room full of bored workers.
