Core i7-965 XE Overclocked to 4.20 GHz
[H]ardOCP:
TechPowerUp has some details on how IT OC Taiwan took an engineering sample of the 3.2GHz stock Core i7-965XE and overclocked it to 4.20GHz. This is just a little more hype for you guys as we draw closer to Nehalem November.
IT OC Taiwan overclocked the chip, which sports an unlocked FSB multiplier, to a respectable 4.20 GHz, at a FSB speed of 200 MHz, and multiplier value of 21.0xFSB. A vCore setting of 1.72 V was used, which is above the danger-mark, taking Intel’s own warnings into account.
