Description
If you have paid any attention to the heatsink field in the last few months you will notice a trend that has started among the various manufacturer that when you go out and buy a heatsink for your nice new motherboard and processor there is a very good chance that the heatsink will work on as many as three other type of platforms. Gone are the days when a heatsink was made to fit a single motherboard, (yes there are still some) but there are more that are crossing the road to the multi-platform support.

So why would a company offer a heatsink that will fit so many different types of motherboards? The main reason from the marketing stand point is "as long as you have one of my heatsinks on you your computer you aren’t running one of theirs." This also ties in with the assumption the a consumer is more willing to pay slightly more for a product that will numbers boards as opposed to paying slightly less for a heatsink that works only on one board.

The last thing we should mention is the ever increasing number of companies that are releasing heatsinks using some sort of heatpipe technology, the goal of these heatsink never has been one of cooling overclocked processors but instead it is to offer a near silent cooling solution Intel’s for LGA 775 or P4 AMD’s K7/K8 systems which brings us to the heatsink we are reviewing today. The Aerocool GT-1000 is your common heatpipe type heatsink in the sense that it uses the most commonly used configuration of three heatpipes and a dual fan shroud. The slight difference the GT-1000 does have from the others is the fact that the fan shroud does support both 92mm and 80mm both s well. So with this out of the way lets take a look at the heatsink and just see how well it does perform.
